Job Description

About QuickMoca

QuickMoca is an AI‑powered career platform that helps professionals build personalized resumes and connects companies to qualified candidates through intelligent matching. We’re on a mission to eliminate the “black hole” of job applications – making every interaction clear, rewarding, and human‑centred.

We are a remote‑first team with a strong user‑research culture. We believe that great UX starts with empathy, collaboration, and continuous iteration.

The Role

Location: Remote (Canada – British Columbia / Pacific Time preferred)
Type: Full‑time
Reports to: Head of Product
Team: Product, Engineering, AI

We are looking for a UX Designer who can lead user research, prototyping, and usability testing across our candidate and recruiter platforms. You will work on complex problems in healthcare, public services, e‑commerce, and education – sectors where you already have experience.

You will also play a key role in stakeholder management, balancing user needs with business goals, and collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams.

What You’ll Do

User Research & Discovery

  • Plan and conduct user interviews, surveys, and contextual inquiries with job seekers and recruiters.

  • Synthesize research into actionable insights, personas, and journey maps.

  • Collaborate with product managers to define problem spaces before writing a single line of code.

Prototyping & Testing

  • Create low‑fidelity wireframes and high‑fidelity interactive prototypes (Figma, etc.).

  • Run guerrilla‑style and moderated usability tests to validate assumptions early and often.

  • Iterate rapidly based on feedback – you value learning over perfection.

UI & Interaction Design

  • Design intuitive, accessible interfaces for web and mobile.

  • Contribute to our design system, ensuring consistency across all surfaces.

  • Work closely with front‑end engineers to maintain quality during implementation.

Cross‑functional Collaboration

  • Act as a UX lead on projects, facilitating workshops and communicating with stakeholders.

  • Present design decisions clearly, using research and data to support your rationale.

  • Mentor junior designers as our team grows.

Domain Focus (Healthcare, Public Services, E‑commerce, Education)

  • Leverage your existing experience to shape QuickMoca’s features for these verticals.

  • Design trust‑building experiences for sensitive contexts (health data, government services).

What We’re Looking For

Experience

  • 3+ years of UX/product design experience, including user research, prototyping, and usability testing.

  • Experience working with clients or stakeholders in healthcare, public services, e‑commerce, and/or education.

  • A portfolio that shows your process: research → wireframes → prototypes → testing → iteration.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong proficiency in Figma (or similar prototyping tools).

  • Solid understanding of usability testing methods (moderated, unmoderated, remote, in‑person).

  • Ability to plan and conduct research independently and synthesise findings into design decisions.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) is a plus.

Mindset

  • Empathetic and user‑centred – you design with purpose.

  • Collaborative and open to feedback – you believe the best ideas come from teams.

  • Adaptable – you’re comfortable switching between research, wireframes, and high‑fidelity UI.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with 3D design tools (Rhino, Blender, CAD) – a unique background that can inspire creative problem‑solving.

  • Background in craft, jewellery, or physical design – we value diverse perspectives.

  • Knowledge of AI/ML concepts (not required, but helpful).

Why Join QuickMoca

  • High impact: Your work will directly improve how thousands of people find jobs and how companies hire.

  • Research‑driven culture: We invest in user research and usability testing – you’ll have the time and budget to do it right.

  • Remote‑first, Canada‑based: Work from anywhere in Canada, with a preference for Pacific Time.

  • Flat structure: Work directly with the founder and product lead – no bureaucracy.

  • Growth opportunity: Lead projects, mentor others, and shape our UX practice.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: 85,000–85,000–105,000 CAD / year (depending on experience).

  • Contract type: Full‑time employee.

  • Working hours: Flexible, with core overlap in Pacific Time.

  • Paid time off: 20 days vacation + local public holidays.

  • Equipment: Budget for a laptop/accessories.

  • Learning budget: Courses, conferences, UX tools.
